GLOBAL: Salesian Missions launches Annual Food Distribution Appeal

Salesian Missions has launched its Annual Food Distribution Appeal, enabling donors to multiply their gift many times over by turning a $1 donation into $20 of critical nutrition. Thanks to ongoing partnerships with international humanitarian aid organizations that donate the food, and the established, trusted presence of Salesian missionaries in more than 130 countries, life-saving meals are ready for those who need them most. Donor funding helps Salesian Missions transport the meals from shipping docks to Salesian program locations around the globe.

Don Bosco University in San Salvador, El Salvador, is empowering the next generation of medical rehabilitation practitioners to transform the lives of people with mobile disabilities through its “Walking Anew!” project, which ran from March 2017 to June 2022. This project was made possible thanks to a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development’s American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (USAID/ASHA) program secured by Salesian Missions.

INT’L DAY OF CHARITY: Salesian Missions highlights life-changing social programs for poor youth and their families

Salesian Missions joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in honoring the International Day of Charity celebrated each year on Sept. 5. The date was chosen by the General Assembly of the United Nations to commemorate the anniversary of the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.”

GLOBAL: Salesian Missions launches annual ‘Loaves and Fishes’ fundraiser to support critical aid shipments

Salesian Missions recently launched its annual “Loaves and Fishes” fundraiser which raises funds to ship life-saving aid to more than 130 countries around the globe. Because the cost of shipping critical aid is far less than its value, donations are multiplied many times over. For every dollar donated, Salesian Missions is able to ship $14 worth of critical goods to its programs.

WORLD HEALTH DAY: Salesian health programs provide access to care for people living in poverty

Salesian Missions joins humanitarian and other international organizations in honoring World Health Day on April 7. Salesian missionaries offer more than 150 medical clinics and hospitals in mostly rural areas around the globe that serve a wide range of medical care needs. In many countries with Salesian programs, dental care and other necessary health services are offered to poor youth and their families who might otherwise have no access to health care.
