POLAND: Salesian Krakow Province holds activities for more than 4,500 youth
Youth in community also engage through Salesian house
(MissionNewswire) The Salesian Krakow Province in Poland organized summer activities for more than 4,500 youth, with 88 different activities taking place across its 17 centers. This involved 714 educators and activity leaders working with 49 Salesians. The activities were carried out across the province and included trips to various parts of Poland, Ukraine* and other countries.
A Salesian said, “What united them was joy, community, education and faith. These included day and residential camps, canoeing trips, mountain hikes, pilgrimages, cycling trips, spiritual retreats and various other initiatives.”
The Salesian added, “All the activities, carried out in the Salesian spirit, were also times for Eucharist and prayer, as well as introducing youth to values such as friendship, respect, and hospitality, and teaching them how to build healthy relationships with others.”
The organizers expressed special thanks to the many volunteers, educators and activity leaders, as well as the Salesians, who dedicated their time and energy, demonstrating that it is worthwhile to share goodness and hope for the future.
Salesians in this community provide support to people who need extra assistance, including those who cannot afford coal in the winter. Youth utilize the Salesian house to connect with their peers, engage with adult role models and have time for respite through recreational activities. Salesian missionaries in Poland and bordering countries have been providing shelter and support to refugees from Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in March 2022.
