INDIA: Don Bosco Tech introduces specialized training for the automobile sector

Collaboration aims to give students practical skills, confidence to pursue employment

INDIA

(MissionNewswire) Don Bosco Tech and the Bosch India Foundation launched the “Bosch LEAP Program” in Tamil Nadu, India, in September. The training will take place at four Salesian technical institutions, introducing specialized training in two-wheeler and four-wheeler servicing. The program aims to equip youth with practical automotive skills and the confidence needed to pursue employment and career opportunities in the automobile sector.

The program was launched at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Lalgudi, Don Bosco Technical Institute Amsam in Trichy, Don Bosco Private Technical Institute in Kavarapettai in Thiruvallur and St. Joseph Technical Institute in Basin Bridge, Chennai. The Don Bosco institutes in Lalgudi, Amsam and Kavarapettai will train students in both two-wheeler and four-wheeler servicing, while St. Joseph Technical Institute will focus on two-wheeler servicing.

Each of the four institutions held official launches of the skills training program. At Don Bosco Technical Institute Amsam, Father Francis Xavier, principal, expressed gratitude to Bosch India Foundation and Don Bosco Tech for introducing the program at the institution. He said, “The collaboration will help students develop practical skills and better prepare themselves for the workplace.”

Access to professional training and workforce development services is highly valued in India. India’s youth face a lack of educational opportunities due to issues of caste, class and gender. Almost 44% of the workforce is illiterate and less than 10% of the working-age population has completed a secondary education. In addition, many secondary school graduates do not have the knowledge and skills to compete in today’s changing job market.
