(MissionNewswire) Salesian Project Guayaquil Foundation in Ecuador is highlighting its recent impact for youth and families in situations of vulnerability and exclusion in its 2025 report. During 2025, the foundation assisted 950 youth and 580 families through integrated programs focused on technical training and education, psychosocial support, and the promotion of rights.

These programs were developed in priority areas such as Monte Sinaí, Socio Vivienda 2, Isla Trinitaria, Bastión Popular, Vía Daule and neighboring areas, where the Salesian institution maintains an active and constant presence.

With these programs, Salesians are responding to complex situations for these families. Data has found that 36.72% of families live in informal settlements, 22.81% are considered vulnerable due to their Afro-descendant status, 12.07% are unemployed or not in the process of professionalization, 8.77% are behind in school, and 8.96% are single mothers and fathers.

A Salesian noted, “This data highlights the need to strengthen social supports with the creation of opportunities and comprehensive programs. Youth deserve an opportunity to gain an education and have hope for the future. Meeting basic needs and providing them with social support is vital in helping them to achieve that goal.”

Salesians presented the 2025 report at the Salesian Polytechnic University in Guayaquil, which was attended by authorities, cooperators and strategic partners. The foundation expressed its gratitude to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Province of Ecuador, the university and national and international cooperators, whose commitment makes it possible to support and expand this work.

The Salesian added, “The 2025 report presented not only quantitative results but also stories of overcoming adversity and processes of transformation that reflect the human impact of a mission committed to respecting the dignity of all and to the education and integral development of those most in need.”

Ecuador is one of the most inequitable societies in the world, according to UNICEF. The richest 20% of the population receives almost 50% of the national income, while the poorest 20% receives only 5%. According to the World Food Programme, almost 26% of all children under age 5 have stunted growth, increasing to 31% in rural areas and 47% in Indigenous communities.
