(MissionNewswire) Students from the Salesian College in Siliguri, India, recently launched “LuvlyU — Love, Understand and Value Yourself as You Are”, a digital platform designed to promote self-confidence and mental well-being for youth. The initiative was developed by Anand Kumar, a M.Sc. psychology student, in collaboration with members of the Radio Club.

A Salesian noted, “The initiative comes in response to growing concerns about self-judgment, comparison and performance pressure among youth. The platform aims to help users reconnect with their inner spark and embrace their authentic selves.”

LuvlyU currently offers over 50 guided video sessions organized into eight modules covering self-worth, mindset, emotional resilience, communication and positive self-image. The platform features interactive reflection games and guided activities that encourage active personal growth.

The focus on mental health is important in India, which has high rates of suicide. In 2022, 171,000 people died by suicide and rates have been increasing among adolescents in recent years. The most reported risk factors were mental health problems, negative or traumatic familiar issues, academic stress, social/lifestyle factors, violence, economic distresses and relationship factors.

Faculty members have welcomed the initiative as timely and relevant in today’s competitive environment. The creators hope LuvlyU will grow into a wider movement inspiring youth to value themselves and confidently share their unique gifts with the world.
