INDIA

(MissionNewswire) Don Bosco English Medium School and Don Bosco Piloo Modi High School in India jointly hosted a three-day AI STEAM (science, technology, engineering, math and arts) learning workshop in February, engaging more than 700 students, parents and teachers.

Organized in collaboration with International S.T.E.A.M Research, the program introduced participants to artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, drones, Internet of Things and extended reality technologies.

A Salesian noted, “Learners engaged in hands-on sessions, coding robots, flying drones and working with sensor-based applications. Teachers and parents also participated, many experiencing advanced technologies for the first time. Students described the workshop as transformative and confidence-building.”

Father Elson Baretto, rector, called the initiative a step to help make students future-ready through experiential education. Father Daresh, principal, said the institution aims to set a benchmark for holistic, technology-driven learning in Panchmahal district. The schools plan to establish a permanent AI STEAM Lab with International S.T.E.A.M Research’s support, strengthening access to futuristic education in rural Gujarat.

Salesian programs across India are primarily focused on education. Salesian primary and secondary education in the country helps youth prepare for later technical, vocational or university study. Other programs help to support poor youth and their families by meeting the basic needs of shelter, proper nutrition and medical care.
