UKRAINE: Youth gain skills, hope with high-quality vocational education

Don Bosco Vocational Education Center in Lviv continues to grow

(MissionNewswire) The Don Bosco Vocational Education Center, the only Catholic and private vocational training institution in Ukraine*, combines high-quality professional training with spiritual guidance. Despite the ongoing war and all its challenges, the center in Lviv continues to grow and develop.

Over the years, it has become a safe and supportive space for youth who are vulnerable, those who have been internally displaced or are from de-occupied territories, families of military personnel, veterans with disabilities, and all those seeking professional development.

This year, the center introduced a new program in graphic and product design. Existing programs are offered in IT, culinary arts and automotive electronics.

A Salesian noted, “Recognizing the urgent need for Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction, labor market demands, and the evolving aspirations of young people, the Don Bosco Center is planning to expand its educational programs to renewable energy technologies and automation and manufacturing engineering.”

The Salesian added, “These fields are critical to rebuilding the nation and creating a stable, future-oriented economy. Over 85% of our graduates secured employment in their field or continue their studies at universities. It’s not just for youth. In 2024, more than 200 adults completed short-term training programs. For many, it marked a new beginning and a path toward stability.”

Beyond education, students at Don Bosco Center benefit from university entrance exam preparation, English and German language courses, sports, music, psychological support and mentorship, volunteerism, career counseling, employer networking, and spiritual formation.

The Salesian added, “Sadly, due to limited resources, we are unable to accept all applicants. Many young people were not admitted simply because we lacked the capacity. That is why the project of reconstruction and expansion of the center is our team’s top priority. We are committed to opening more doors for those who are ready to transform their lives.”
